It’s really easy to stand on a pedestal and give advice to the world.
I see so many people struggling to make content… and there are a few reasons I think that is.
First of all, we think we need to put on some sort of mask. For the world to see us as more successful than we are and it creates a disconnect between the people we are called to serve, our story, and the authentic version of us right where we are on our journey.
Secondly, we think we need to just be positive and post about a recent trend, or the ‘have it all lifestyle’ or how disciplined we are going to the gym or making our sales calls. When sometimes it’s just hard and things aren’t going our way and we ourselves aren’t doing the work. This makes consistency really hard.
Finally, I was listening to a podcast recently where they mentioned the idea and asked a question. “What are you afraid they find out about you?”. We have faults and challenges and struggles like everyone else and we don’t want people to know.
What I’ve found, and I’m still struggling with myself, is that when I show up.
1. Fully authentic with who I am and where I am right now
2. Not caring what other people think
3. Unafraid to share.
I’m actually able to connect in a way that’s way more authentic and real…. and actually attract the right people to me rather than just people.
The worst thing we can do is create a fake persona and attract people that we don’t want to work with, or even worse, people who think that we are someone we are not.
